Use It Or Lose It

MAKE THE MOST FROM YOUR HEALTH FUND - CLAIM YOUR OPTICAL REBATE BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR!

What’s covered with my optical rebate?

Whether you want a new pair of glasses or are in need of prescription sunglasses, we have a huge range to choose from at our Charlestown store.

Prescription sunglasses help protect your eyes from harmful UV rays while also correcting your vision. Nova Optical has a wide range of designer sunnies and affordable eyewear styles with frames to suit your face shape.

One pair of glasses won’t always suit every occasion or outfit. Use your optical extras to get an extra pair of glasses for driving or for computer work.

We can also help with choosing the best lenses for your eyes. The perfect solution if you’re looking for an extra pair of glasses for driving or if you spend a lot of time in front of computer screens.

What is an optical rebate?

Health funds often describe ‘hospital and extras’ in their cover which provide a benefit — or rebate — towards the cost of everyday non-hospital services like optical.

For example, eye tests are often covered by Medicare but contact lenses and prescription glasses aren’t. But with optical rebates you can score a discount on many optical products and services at Nova Optical.

Nova Optical is registered with all major Australian health funds for your optical rebates. So, whoever you’re with for your health cover, you’re covered with us.

What is an annual rebate limit?

Extras cover is not unlimited. Each insurance policy has a maximum benefit amount it will pay for specific extras, like optical, each year. Your rebate entitlements will depend on which health fund you’re insured with and the level of cover you have with them.

Just as insurance policies vary between health funds, so do levels of cover. For a basic insurance policy, your annual optical rebate limit will be lower than someone with a comprehensive policy. Whatever your limit is, once you reach it you’ll need to wait for the policy to reset before claiming again.

When does my health insurance renew?

Any unused benefits from the previous calendar year won’t roll over into the new year. So, it is important to claim your optical rebates before the end of the year so you don’t miss out!

Some Australian health funds may run to the financial year calendar… so make sure you check the fine print in your policy.
